ADPD

The Maltese ADPD, also known as Alternattiva Demokratika – Partit Demokratiku (ADPD), is a political entity in Malta that emerged from the unification of two distinct political groups: Alternattiva Demokratika (AD), which was Malta's Green party, and Partit Demokratiku (PD), a centrist, social-liberal party. This amalgamation, aimed at creating a stronger alternative voice in Maltese politics, was formalized in 2020. The ADPD positions itself as a progressive force, advocating for a wide range of policies that reflect its roots in environmentalism, social justice, and liberal dem…  ocracy.

The core values of ADPD are deeply rooted in the principles of sustainability, social equity, and the protection of civil liberties. The party places a strong emphasis on environmental protection, advocating for policies that address climate change, promote renewable energy, and ensure the conservation of Malta's natural landscapes and biodiversity. This environmental focus is a legacy of its Green party origins and remains a central pillar of its identity.

In addition to its environmental agenda, the ADPD is committed to social justice, aiming to create a more equitable society through the promotion of policies that support welfare, healthcare, education, and affordable housing. The party believes in the importance of providing a safety net for the most vulnerable in society, including minorities, the elderly, and those facing economic hardship.

The ADPD also champions civil liberties and human rights, advocating for greater transparency, accountability, and democratic governance in Malta. It supports reforms that enhance the rule of law, reduce corruption, and ensure that the rights of all citizens are protected and respected. The party's commitment to social liberalism is evident in its stance on issues such as LGBTQ+ rights, gender equality, and the legalization of cannabis for personal use.
