Yes, but with strict training on how and when to use the equipment

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...4yrs4Y

No, extreme situations should be handled by higher agencies with specialized training and equipment

  Deletedanswered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but it should only be used in extreme cases and should be provided with better training.

 @8YRQH43 from California  answered…3yrs3Y

Both with extreme situations and with strict training on how and when to use the equipment.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…3mos3MO

If a friend expressed fear of going to a protest because of heavily armed police, what advice would you give them?

  @Matt-Palmerchuck from New Jersey  answered…2yrs2Y

 @ISIDEWITHasked…3mos3MO

How would you feel if you saw a police officer patrolling your school with military-grade gear, and why?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…3mos3MO

Have you ever witnessed a police operation in your area that used high-tech equipment; what was your immediate reaction?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…3mos3MO

How might the depiction of police in movies and TV shows with military gear impact our views on real-life policing?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…3mos3MO

What changes would you expect in your local community if the police department decided to no longer use military-grade equipment?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…3mos3MO

Reflect on a time when you felt extremely safe or unsafe in your community; what role did the police play in that feeling?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…3mos3MO

How do you think the history of your community influences its stance on police using military-grade equipment?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…3mos3MO

If given the chance to vote on the extent of military equipment in your local police force, what factors would influence your decision?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…3mos3MO

How do personal stories or news reports of police encounters influence your opinion on the militarization of the police?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…3mos3MO

In imagining a future society, would you see an increased or decreased use of military equipment by police, and why?

 @tasibuttel from Nevada  answered…3yrs3Y

No, if the military equipment needs to be involved I don't think it should be in the hands of the police but rather the swat and/or national guard.

 @8XT5R4B from New York  answered…3yrs3Y

Back when I was a child, growing up in a family of police officers, cops had the standard equiptment and used it to the best of their knowledge and ability, based on the situation they were about to enter. The weapons they carry are not conducive to the reason(s) they use it, i.e. guns don't kill, people do. It's all about the mindset of the officer, not the weapon. If you have a trigger-happy cop, it's not going to matter what he's/she's carrying

 @2JR74ZManswered…3yrs3Y

The police should be restricted to the equipment available on the civilian market.

 @8RSTXFT from Arizona  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but only after strict training, and in response to extreme situations.

 @92YHQCV from California  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but only in response to extreme situations, and with strict training on how and when to use the equipment

 @92YHQCV from California  answered…3yrs3Y

On a Daily Basis, No. But if they're used only in response to extreme situations and with strict training on how and when to use the equipment, then Yes.

 @92YHQCV from California  answered…3yrs3Y

No, if they're used on a Daily Basis. But if they're used only in response to extreme situations and with strict training on how and when to use the equipment, then Yes.

 @92YHQCV from California  answered…3yrs3Y

No, higher agencies should handle extreme situations with specialized training and equipment. However, if police departments are given strict training on how and when to use the equipment, and will only use military-grade equipment in response to extreme situations like the higher agencies with specialized training and equipment, then Yes.

 @clementismynameanswered…2yrs2Y

Yes, but only the SWAT team should have access to it in emergencies in which they are called in.

 @8WCXMPV from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, they should be trained more extensively on how and when to use it. They should also only use it in dire situations

 @8WT4VQ6 from Colorado  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8ZGPKM9 from Missouri  answered…3yrs3Y

yes only if they are trained and its need and and also if they are in danger for there life

 @IINXMP from Pennsylvania  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, as long as the same weapons are accessible to the American people as well, and that police are properly trained and regulated.

 @8Q8RMZF from Kentucky  answered…4yrs4Y

No, having police in our community roaming around with such equiment would cause people want to rob them and if they get robbed and it gets into the wrong hands then someone dumb would use that stuff to sell or try and use on other people putting our whole community at risk

 @5G638ZVanswered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but civilians should have access to the same equipment as law enforcement.

 @6VB5B4J from Michigan  answered…2yrs2Y

No, civilian law enforcement shouldn't be equipped with anything that a law abiding citizen couldn't own (excluding NFA items).

 @Legolass from South Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but only if citizens are also allowed to use military grade equipment.

 @7LPHL2F from Illinois  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but only in response to extreme situations with strict training on how and when to use the equipment.

 @8CN7P7L from New Jersey  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8DB9N4Z from Maine  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but with strict training on how and when to use the equipment and in response to extreme situations

  @RickStewart from Iowa  answered…3yrs3Y

In a just country, where the government is not persecuting its own citizens, no military grade equipment will be necessary for law enforcement to do its job, which is to serve and protect.

 @8FPLGKD from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

No, and non-emergency law enforcement officers should not carry lethal weapons at all.

 @8JXN2T6 from Georgia  answered…4yrs4Y

If we are going to have police who don't have to follow rule of law, then they must be able to use the same grade weapons that are legal to any other private citizen. Since I think all weapons should be legal for all citizens per the original intent of 2A, this presents a need for a lot of change.

 @8PTQ54W from New York  answered…4yrs4Y

No, if the situation requires military grade weapons then someone more suitable than the police should be called in

 @8PWXW4S from Oregon  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but only in the most extreme situations and with the proper training

 @8RF85ML from New York  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, "military grade" is designed to make this equipment sound unreasonable. Police with inadequate equipment put themselves at greater risk and make poorer decisions.

 @8RS88C2 from Tennessee  answered…4yrs4Y

Police are civilians and should have the same access to equipment as the general public.

 @8SDQZ4H from Minnesota  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8T9D7X5 from California  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, but get rid of grants incentivizing use of military grade equipment and restrict firearms to pistols, shotguns and sub-machine guns.

 @lucasnat0r from Illinois  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes but only if the citizens are allowed based on the second amendment.

 @8TWBTT9 from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

Sure, as long as they are trained properly and thoroughly and the situation calls for it. Someone who stole a candy bar from Walmart shouldn't be held at gunpoint with an M1911 pistol.

 @8V3VYRH from Wisconsin  answered…3yrs3Y

If the police were allowed to use military equipment then they should've joined the military not the police.

 @8VPTNF4 from New York  answered…3yrs3Y

Depends on the department and the size of the city. But mostly I'd say yes

 @8W6B6J2 from Georgia  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but U.S citizens should also be allowed to use military grade equipment

 @8W8WFZ5 from Connecticut  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but they need to have very strict training on how and when to use the equipment, and should only be used in extreme situations where the common equipment is not sufficient to keep them safe.

 @8WRKRDY from Kentucky  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8WRKRXL from Kentucky  answered…3yrs3Y

depending on the siutation yes, but if the people are protesting for something the police shouldn't be allowed to use such weapons.

 @8X5YTFK from Connecticut  answered…3yrs3Y

depending on what they are doing like say protecting a building or something yes but for every day use no

 @8X8FW3X from California  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but only in extreme situations and only those with strict training should be allowed to use it.

 @8XH4JKP from Missouri  answered…3yrs3Y

Military equipment should only be used if necessary. If the time comes that military equipment is needed to be used the police need proper training and know when and when not to use such weapons.

 @8XNW2C4 from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8XPB39B from New York  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes but only when extremely necessary like if there was to be another terror attack

 @8XXLTYKanswered…3yrs3Y

 @8YJ6ZGY from Michigan  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8YF4BR7 from Montana  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but only if approved by higher agencies in case they cant reach the area in time.

 @8ZD5RNT from Washington  answered…3yrs3Y

I don't think that they need to use high expense explosives and other misses/dangerous military equipment but for certain occasions depending on what they may need some kind of high powered semi or auto assault rifle or other guns.

 @8ZDTRL7 from Georgia  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but with strict training on how and when to use the equipment and also when the governor of the state gives the okay to do so

 @8PYMW62answered…4yrs4Y

Police should have access to all equipment but should require a military background or military type of training even if they didn't have access.

 @93HNT69 from Illinois  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, they should be trained to know how to use it to its intended use, they should be able to have the upper hand to protect our LEOs and be more powerful to the criminals.

 @92X5HLD from California  answered…3yrs3Y

 @9229SCK from California  answered…3yrs3Y

The amount of police brutality has risen through the years. The police should be taught the right way without the privilege of military weapons.

 @9334YP3answered…3yrs3Y

Excepting the sheriff's department, all police departments should be abolished and replaced by civil militias. Private citizens should be freely able to acquire, own and use military grade equipment.

 @93HTZPVanswered…2yrs2Y

Yes as the equipment is bought cheaply from the military. Reduce unnecessary spending.

 @8YYBYBH from California  answered…3yrs3Y

Hell no, they are already shooting people and arresting them, and framing them for no reason. SO I don't think giving the military-grade equipment is a good idea at all, if they want to use that stuff go to the military!! Sign up, but they should never be allowed to get their hands on the military-grade equipment, ever.

 @92ZT2NT from Illinois  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but with strict training and only using them in extreme life threatening situations only.
