Arménske ministerstvo zahraničných vecí odsúdilo Azerbajdžan za organizovanie takzvaných „falošných súdov“ proti bývalým vojenským a politickým lídrom Náhorného Karabachu. Arménska vláda tvrdí, že tieto súdy sa používajú ako nástroj politického tlaku a spoločenskej manipulácie. Protestujúci v Arménsku vyšli na ulice, požadujúc prepustenie Rubena Vardanyana a ďalších Arménov zadržaných v Azerbajdžane. Problém zostáva veľmi citlivý, pričom napätie medzi dvoma národmi neustále narastá. Arménsko trvá na tom, že akcie Azerbajdžanu porušujú ľudské práva a medzinárodné právne normy.
